Justice Services Workgroup

Note: These proposed charges were intended to give the workgroups a starting point from which to organize their work. We expect that some workgroups may expand upon their charges and/or coordinate with other workgroups to avoid duplicative processes or work product.
Charter: Sections 4.01, 5.03, 5.04, 5.06, 5.08
- Review existing operations, Office of the Sheriff, Coroner’s Office, Clerk of Courts court-related functions, the civil division of Prosecutor’s Office as it interfaces with the new charter functions, the Office of the Public Defender,the Department of Justice Affairs, and the Justice System Reform Initiative and those operations’ relationships with the court system, the law library and other county departments and systems as affected.
- Recommend an organizational and operational structure for the appointed offices of the Clerk of Courts, the Sheriff, the Medical Examiner, and the Director of Law that will ensure those appointed officials can fulfill the duties of their offices as mandated by general law and/or as specified in the charter
- Offer such other recommendations related to best practices for the operations of the justice system so as to achieve transformational realignment and efficiencies.
